Innovations that merge critical race theory and practice
Critical Race Theory coheres in the drive to excavate the relationship between the law, legal doctrine, ideology, and racial power and the motivation ‘not merely to understand the vexed bond between law and racial power, but to change it.’ ” Professor Cheryl I. Harris, in “Critical Race Studies: An Introduction” (2002)
The students and faculty of the CRS Program apply the principles of
critical race theory to concrete legal and social problems. We have
launched various initiatives and innovative projects which
simultaneously enrich the education of all students at the UCLA School
of Law, while supporting the use of law to challenge racial
subordination and social injustice.
