UCLA School of Law receives notices and information about various scholarships, fellowships and writing competitions sponsored by other law schools, universities, foundations, alumni associations, bar associations, etc. The Financial Aid Office will post applicable notices on this page as received.

THE 2017 HOGAN/SMOGER ACCESS TO JUSTICE ESSAY COMPETITION
This $5,000 scholarship competition is open to all current law students and all masters of law students. Co-authored submissions are eligible; if selected, the co-authors will share the prize. Each submission must be an original, unpublished academic work, but simultaneous submissions will be accepted.

2017 ASPIRING ATTORNEY SCHOLARSHIP
The Law Firm of John W. Tumelty invites all aspiring lawyers across the country to apply for a $1,000 scholarship to the educational institution of their choice. John W. Tumelty has been practicing law for over 30 years and would like to help a smart, hard-working student with a passion for the law to help pay for their education.

THE PLAXEN AND ADLER SCHOLARSHIP
This scholarship Awards $2500 annually to a law student who has demonstrated an interest in civil trial advocacy and a career as a civil trial lawyer, as well as the concept of a fair Civil Justice system, a just result for the injured, a desire to represent the injured and those whose rights are jeopardized.

AAJ WOMEN FOR JUSTICE EDUCATION FUND’S 2017 MIKE EIDSON SCHOLARSHIP
The Mike Eidson Scholarship Fund was established by the AAJ Women Trial Lawyers Caucus in 2008, in honor of AAJ Past President Mike Eidson, whose vision and generosity inspired it.  The Scholarship, traditionally given in the amount of $5,000, is awarded annually to a rising 3L (or rising 4L in a night program) female student who has demonstrated a commitment to a career as a trial lawyer, along with dedication to upholding and defending the principles of the Constitution, and to the concept of a fair trial, the adversary system, and a just result for the injured, the accused, and those whose rights are jeopardized

AAJ TRIAL ADVOCACY SCHOLARSHIP
Open to all AAJ Law Student Members who are entering their second and third year of law school, this $3,000 scholarship is awarded to the applicant who best demonstrates the following: commitment to AAJ and its mission; a desire to represent victims; interest and skill in trial advocacy; and financial need.

STEVEN H. HEISLER LAW SCHOLARSHIP
This $2,500 scholarship is designed to encourage and reward dedication of an exemplary individual who is deeply involved in the community that surrounds them.  Applicants must be commencing Law School in August 2017.

KENNERLY LOUTEY SCHOLARSHIP ESSAY
Law school classes are hard enough. Financial difficulties make it even worse, and we haven’t forgotten how difficult law school was for us — and how expensive it is, too. So we set up this $2,000 scholarship to make it easier for a student every year.

WHITE COLLAR CRIMINAL DEFENSE SCHOLARSHIP
While our firm specializes in white collar criminal defense, all of our attorneys have a background in indigent defense.  Therefore, for the 2017-2018 academic year, we are targeting this $1,000 scholarship for students who are working for, or plan to work for, a federal or state public defender’s office–in any unpaid capacity.

MICHIGAN AUTO LAW DIVERSITY SCHOLARSHIP 
Our Diversity Scholarship for $2,000 is awarded to a law student who best demonstrates a commitment to issues of diversity within their academic career. Recipient is a U.S. citizen currently attending an accredited law school within the United States or accepted to attend a law school in the fall of 2017.

AAJ’s Minority Caucus will award a $5,000 scholarship to a minority Law Student member who is entering his/her first, second, or third year of law school. The winner will be provided travel and accommodations to attend the AAJ Annual Convention in Boston, Massachusetts.

THE PUBLIC LAW SECTION 2017 STUDENT WRITING COMPETITION
The California State Bar Public Law Section seeks entries for its annual Student Writing Competition.  The competition is open to students at all California-accredited law schools, and the winner receives a $2,000 cash prize.  The winner also will be recognized at an awards reception sponsored by the Public Law Section.  The Public Law Section will pay the winner’s reasonable transportation and hotel accommodation expenses to attend the award reception.

EMPOWERING WOMEN IN LAW SCHOLARSHIP
The Pearce Law Firm is pleased to announce our 2017 scholarship award for women studying law. Our annual scholarship of $1500 is judged & awarded primarily on academic achievement, school & community activities, and demonstrated leadership abilities. With a grand prize of $1,000 and two runners-up receiving $500 each, the Innovation Scholarship will be accepting applications from current students attending either an accredited law school or an accredited university in the United States. Applicants will be judged on their academic merits as well as the content of the application essay they provide.

PRONER AND PRONER 2017 SCHOLARSHIP FUND CONTEST
This scholarship will be awarded on a per-semester basis.  It will be automatically renewed for the second semester upon the showing of good academic standing by the recipient. The total amount of the scholarship will be $1,000 and will be awarded in two segments each year.
