The Lowell Milken Institute for Business Law and Policy creates opportunities for business law students to gain the knowledge and develop the skill sets required for the next generation of outstanding leaders in law and business in Los Angeles, in the nation and throughout the world. Coupling UCLA Law faculty’s outstanding legal scholarship with the real-world experience of instructors and guest lecturers including entrepreneurs, business executives and practicing lawyers, the Institute offers students outstanding training that will prepare them for the early years of law practice and beyond.
The Lowell Milken Institute also serves the greater business law community, including lawyers, executives, directors and advisors to business, by hosting regular symposia, conferences and speakers on current and hotly debated business law topics. The Institute provides a forum for intelligent, thoughtful and respectful debate on the important business policy issues confronting American business.
The Lowell Milken Institute commands a rich array of resources, including distinguished faculty experts in bankruptcy, tax, corporate governance and securities regulation, and support from a stellar advisory board. Students who wish to focus their schooling in business law can participate in the Business Law and Policy Specialization.
During the 2016-17 academic year, the Lowell Milken Institute for Business Law and Policy will host the inaugural competition for the Lowell Milken Institute-Sandler Prize for New Entrepreneurs, a business plan competition for teams of UCLA students. The competition offers $100,000 in prizes.
