Now accepting applications for the 2021- 2022 Academic Year Grant Cycle.

DEADLINE FOR APPLICATION SUBMISSION: 31 March 2022, midnight

The UCLA Animal Law and Policy Small Grants Program (ALP SGP) seeks to promote the collection of sound empirical knowledge with which to build fact-driven, evidence-based animal law and policy reform for the benefit of nonhuman animals. We are interested in funding new, well-designed empirical research in a wide variety of fields (from behavioral economics to law to moral psychology). Applications are evaluated with a focus on predicted reliability of the proposed research method to reliably answer the question posed by the applicant researcher. Accordingly, applicants need to provide detail about their proposed research methods. Specific information about what the applicant’s proposal should contain is provided under the tab “For Applicants.”

The ALP SGP team is led by Dr. Taimie Bryant. Dr. Bryant is an animal law expert trained in empirical methodology. The ALP SGP team also includes members of the UCLA School of Law Empirical Research Group and subject matter experts from whom opinions are sought about applications that concern their areas of expertise.
