Donald Scotten specializes in business law and business entity governance, and primarily advises small business clients.  He also serves as Of Counsel for Akerman Senterfitt LLP.  Previously, Scotten was First Vice President and Senior Counsel for Countrywide Home Loans, Inc., and he also was a senior associate at Howrey LLP.

Scotten has been a lecturer at USC Law from 2007 where he teaches business organizations, and mergers and acquisitions.  He serves as an officer on the California State Bar’s Partnership and Limited Liability Company Committee.  Additionally, he is a contributing editor to the Unincorporated Business Entities Law blog (www.uberlaw.net), and is an article reviewer for the Journal of Legal Studies Education, which is published by the Academy of Legal Studies in Business.  Scotten has written numerous articles on business organizations, and presently is writing a practice guide on California corporations for The Rutter Group, a division of West.

Donald Scotten received his B.A., cum laude, in economics and communications from the University of Pennsylvania in 1992.  He received his J.D., Order of the Coif, from the College of William & Mary Law School in 1997.  He expects to earn his LL.M. in Taxation from Loyola Law School in spring 2012.
