Tom Unterman founded Rustic Canyon Partners in 1999 and he continues to be an active partner. Prior to founding Rustic Canyon, Unterman had a long career as a corporate executive and a corporate lawyer. From 1992 through 1999, he held several executive positions at the Times Mirror Company, most recently as its Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer. Prior to joining Times Mirror, Unterman was a partner of the law firm of Morrison & Foerster LLP, which he joined after serving as a partner of Orrick, Herrington & Sutcliffe LLP. He earned his bachelor's degree from Princeton University before receiving his law degree from the University of Chicago. Unterman serves on the board of 8 of Rustic Canyon’s portfolio companies and the following community organization: the California Community Foundation, The California Institute for the Arts (CalArts), The Los Angeles Museum of Contemporary Art, and Heal the Bay. He is also a member of the State of California’s Commission on Access to Justice.
