This seminar examines ways to negotiate being a lawyer and a sexual human being at the same time. The rules of professional responsibility and employer policies against sexual harassment offer minimal guidelines that often seem insufficient to deal with actual problems that arise when young lawyers experience overwhelming sexual attraction or find themselves the object of such attraction--whether the attention is unwelcome, enthusiastically reciprocated, or anything in between. When is it ok to flirt, and how common and acceptable are romantic relationships with (former?) clients, witnesses, opposing counsel, law enforcement agents, court personnel etc.? When should disclosure be required, or discouraged, or a private decision for the parties? Seminar material includes fiction and nonfiction as well as videos and movies.
