Susan Gillig is Director of Extern Programs Emerita. After many years of service, she retired as Assistant Dean for Clinical Programs, a position in which she oversaw development of the clinical program and administered the externship program. She is currently Interim Assistant Dean for Clinical Education, Experiential Learning, and Public Service and has taught Interviewing, Counseling, and Negotiation.

During law school, Gillig was editor-in-chief of the Southern California Law Review. She then clerked for Judge Dorothy W. Nelson of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit and was an associate at the firm of Paul, Hastings, Janofsky & Walker in the litigation and labor departments.
