Hiroshi Motomura Discusses Charlie Gard Case With New York Times

Professor Hiroshi Motomura was quoted in the New York Times about a case involving two British parents seeking advanced medical care in the U.S. for their terminally ill baby, Charlie Gard. Charlie has been treated at a London hospital, which originally wanted to take him off life support and block his transfer to a U.S. hospital. Two House Republican lawmakers, however, are seeking to enact legislation that would grant the family permanent residency in the U.S.  

“The odds are against this specific legislation, partly because of political overtones, family ties to the situation, and statistically, very few of these cases are enacted,” said Motomura.
