Sean Hecht Tells KPCC How Living Next to So-Cal Freeways Poses Health Risks

Professor Sean Hecht, co-executive director of the Emmett Institute on Climate Change and the Environment, was featured on KPCC’s “Take Two” podcast to discuss the health risks that Southern California residents may be facing. According to experts, a close proximity to the freeway can expose residents to pollutants that contribute to heart and lung problems.

While air filters are a helpful solution, “the best answer from a health standpoint is not to build [housing] near the freeways,” said Hecht.
