Real Property Practice Simulation for Foreign Lawyers

Business & Tax Law

This course will introduce foreign law students to the practical skills necessary for negotiating and litigating real property disputes in the United States.  The class is composed of dispute modules presenting a substantive legal overview and a selection of documents on the following topics:  adverse possession; gifts; estates & future interests/sales; concurrent ownership; landlord tenant relations; nuisance & solar energy; easements; covenants, conditions, and restrictions; and takings.  Students working in teams will negotiate a resolution/transaction, participate in a trial, or present closing arguments on each of the topics assigned.
