Our panel will present a practical workshop addressing the unique challenges specific to fashion and apparel industry start-ups and their advisors by providing strategies for developing, funding, managing, and expanding their businesses, protecting valuable IP assets, and distributing and marketing their products. Practical advice from an experienced panel of professional experts will cover topics including legal affairs, IP rights, sourcing considerations, hiring advisors, team-building and governance, and regulatory compliance.

Start-up or emerging fashion industry brands, their advisors and prospective advisors, are all welcome.

Panelists:

Doug Lipstone, Esq., Partner, Weinberg Gonser LLP
Mr. Lipstone works with both start-ups and larger nationally known brands and companies, including manufacturers of clothing, footwear, headwear, jewelry, handbags, luggage, cosmetics, and other fashion accessories, as well as local, regional, national and international retailers. He has served as an advocate for the California Fashion Association for many years, including its successful efforts lobbying the U.S Congress against design protection legislative initiatives.

Christa Perez, Esq., Principal, Ladera Law Group
Ms. Perez is the principal of the Ladera Law Group in Orange County, and is a former partner at Friedman Stroffe & Gerard, P.C. Her practice consists of general business and corporate law, as well as intellectual property matters, including trademarks, copyrights, and licensing. Ms. Perez works extensively with clients in the action sports and apparel industries, including several prominent California lifestyle brands.

Pooja Teckchandani, Esq., Director and Senior Counsel, TOMS Shoes, LLC
Ms. Teckchandani is a transactional attorney with experience working with e-commerce companies in the retail, fashion and technology sectors. She was the former Senior Counsel of Nasty Gal, and is currently in-house at TOMS, where she focuses on their e-commerce and digital business.
