Right to Food Symposium
Friday, March 6, 2015
10:30 AM – 4:30 PM

The Journal of International Law and Foreign Affairs (JILFA) is pleased to invite you to attend its 2015 symposium on the right to food.  We are honored to be joined by Dr. Hilal Elver, the newly-appointed U.N. Special Rapporteur on the Right to Food.  Her mandate includes monitoring food security issues and the right to food globally, conducting country visits, presenting regular reports to U.N. bodies, and communicating with states and concerned parties regarding alleged violations.  This year the JILFA symposium seeks to bolster her mandate by bringing together leading academics and practitioners in the field.  The symposium will be a forum for discussing several critical issues that Dr. Elver has identified as priorities for her mandate, including: the impact of global trade in agricultural products on the right to food, the threat of climate change and environmental degradation, as well as mechanisms and tools to enhance implementation, enforcement and accountability of the right to food.
