It's 2019 and our democracy faces great peril. Many Americans have had their right to vote denied, others find insurmountable obstacles en route to the ballot box, many more face less direct suppression through efforts to manipulate the U.S. Census or gerrymander voting districts. A panel of national and state experts will talk about efforts to fight back, from middle America and the South to California – from fighting voter suppression and protecting the Census, to expanding voting rights and reforming redistricting. But advocates are pushing back, in middle America and the South. From the ACLU's Census case win this summer in the U.S. Supreme Court to new fronts of litigation around voter suppression, gerrymandering, what is happening across the nation, especially in middle America and the South? And how are states like California innovating to lead the nation in voter inclusion strategies?
