UCLA Law David J. Epstein Program in Public Interest Law and Policy's 2019-20 Margaret Levy Public Interest Fellowship: Defending Democracy
Meeting this Moment: Lawyers, Vigilance, and Activism | Talk by Kate Kendell, Co-Interim Legal Director of Southern Poverty Law Center and Campaign Manager for Take Back the Court
We are in the midst of a national crisis – of democracy, of equity, of justice – and for many, it is an actual nightmare. As lawyers, we have a special obligation to use our skills and talents to defend our democracy and protect the most vulnerable. We must move on many fronts, simultaneously and strategically: use the courts but reform the legal system, advocate as well as agitate, educate and activate. How do we meet this moment and this new decade to realize a vision of equity and justice?
Lunch will be provided. Please RSVP by February 20.
