In Reviving Rationality: Saving Cost-Benefit Analysis for the Sake of the
Environment and Our Health(Oxford), law professors and authors Michael Livermore and Richard Revesz explain how Donald Trump destabilized the decades-long bipartisan consensus that federal agencies must base their decisions on evidence and expertise. The result: incoherent policy, court defeats, a demoralized federal workforce, and social division. Reviving Rationality explains how and why the Trump administration abandoned rationality, and argues that it is crucial for future administrations to restore rigorous cost-benefit analysis if we are to return to a policymaking approach that effectively tackles the most pressing problems of our era
Join a UCLA Emmett Institute book talk with authors Michael Livermore, Edward F. Howrey Professor of Law at the University of Virginia, and Richard Revesz, Lawrence King Professor of Law and dean emeritus at NYU School of Law; and discussants Shi-Ling Hsu, D'Alemberte Professor at Florida State University College of Law, and Arden Rowell, Professor of Law at University of Illinois College of Law. Sean Hecht, Co-Executive Director of the Emmett Institute, will moderate the conversation.
