October 29, 2018 12:15 PM - 1:30 PM
This presentation will provide an overview of reproductive health jurisprudence and how that fits into the larger framework of gender equality. The presentation will both review historical progress and discuss current attacks on women's health, such as Title X rule changes, religious and moral exemption clauses, and the direction of the Supreme Court and the impact of Justice Kennedy's retirement. The presentation will discuss impacts of such policies and rulings on access to health, particularly for vulnerable populations such as human trafficking and sexual assault victims, undocumented immigrants, and those living in poverty.
Maggy will also discuss California law and to what extent California can insulate itself from harmful federal policy and creative a reproductive freedom state.
