Janis Hui Ozaki teaches Legal Research, Writing, and Analysis for LLMs.
Ms. Ozaki is a trial attorney in the business litigation group at Dykema Gossett PLLC. She represents clients in state and federal courts and arbitrations. Her strengths include: understanding client goals and opponent psychologies; developing intelligent, strategic and efficient solutions for legal and business problems; and effectively communicating client narratives and legal arguments in the courtroom.
Ms. Ozaki was born and raised in Vancouver, Canada and speaks fluent Cantonese. She received her A.R.C.T. Associate diploma in piano performance from the Royal Conservatory of Music, Toronto, Canada; her bachelor’s degree in Economics with dual concentrations in International Trade and Game Theory from Dartmouth College; and her J.D. from UCLA where she served as Writing Skills Advisor in the Lawyering Skills Program. During law school, she externed for the Honorable S. James Otero of the U.S. District Court.
Ms. Ozaki has appeared in the Los Angeles Daily Journal and has been named a Rising Star in Business Litigation and Top Los Angeles Women Lawyer by Super Lawyers magazine since 2012. She is an active member of ProVisors and serves on the Executive Committee of its Los Angeles IV Group. She resides in Rancho Park with her husband, son, and dog.
