February 18, 2011 -- Professor Stephen Bainbridge commented on the gaining popularity of two-step mergers in a Los Angeles Daily Journal article.
Some lawyers have advocated to either lengthen the time it takes to complete a tender offer, or shorten the time it takes to complete a merger. This won’t happen anytime soon, said Stephen Bainbridge, a professor at UCLA School of Law.
“There is zero probability of this happening,” he said. “There isn’t anyone breaking down the door to get this done, and the SEC has more on its plate than tender offers.”
