March 8, 2011 -- Professor Ingrid Eagly commented on a ruling by the 9th Circuit that immigrants under deportation orders must be granted a bond hearing after 180 days of detention. Her comments appear in a Los Angeles Daily Journal article.
'This is a very significant decision. It shows how important the right to the bond hearing is," said Ingrid V. Eagly, a professor at UCLA School of Law who studies immigration issues but is not involved in the Diouf case. "Years can pass as immigrant claims are being litigated."
