Professor Winkler Comments on Bankruptcy Court Ruling Rejecting U.S. Law Barring Same-Sex Marriage in New York Times Article

June 15, 2011 --- Professor Adam Winkler commented on a bankruptcy court ruling that declared unconstitutional a law barring federal recognition of same-sex marriages. His comments appear in a New York Times article.

Adam Winkler, a professor at the law school at the University of California, Los Angeles, called the decision “a powerful statement about the status of gay rights today.” Professor Winkler said, “it shows the effect of Eric Holder’s letter in shaping legal decisions that came after it, almost as if it’s a precedent in the case.”
