Black Law Student Association Students Compete and Win Multiple Titles at WRBLSA Convention


January 16, 2012—UCLA’s Black Law Student Association (BLSA) attended the Western Region Black Law Students Association (WRBLSA) Convention in Seattle, Washington last week with several members having competed in the Frederick Douglass Moot Court Competition and the Thurgood Marshall Mock Trial Competition. Tara Kearns and Mickheila Jasmin won First Place in the Moot Court competition. Duwayne Carr, John Reynolds, Donte Blue, and Jasmine Hernandez received Second Runner Up in the Mock Trial Competition. Blue also took the title for Best Oral Advocate. In addition, UCLA’s BLSA was also awarded 2011-2012 Western Region BLSA Chapter of the Year.


The WRBLSA Convention is sponsored by the National Black Law Students Association and took place on January 11- January 15, 2012. Students may network, discover new fields of law, and compete in moot court and mock trial competitions.
