Professor Klee Discusses Detroit Bankruptcy in Detroit Free Press Article and Multiple Broadcast Outlets

July 19, 2013 --  An article in the Detroit Free Press about the city of Detroit declaring bankruptcy highlighted the expertise of Professor Kenneth Klee, who predicted it will take three years for the city to emerge from its bankruptcy filing. Professor Klee is also quoted in the article.

“Having an emergency manager displace the Detroit City Council is an advantage because one person will be dealing with” the assigned judge,” Klee said. “Typically, the municipality is represented by an elected body and the interaction with the public meeting laws and deliberative process provides unique challenges in Chapter 9. With Kevyn Orr in place, people in Detroit won’t have that problem. When he gets orders (from the judge) there won’t be people changing them or second guessing him.”
