Professor Winkler Quoted in Charlotte Observer Editorial on Court Ruling That Shows Gun Laws Can Be Balanced

February 19, 2016—Professor Adam Winkler was quoted in a Charlotte Observer editorial discussing how a recent court ruling signals that it is politics, not the Constitution or any Supreme Court ruling, that can currently prevent reasonable restrictions on gun ownership in America.

The Heller ruling “made clear there is a space in the Second Amendment for gun control laws,” Professor Winkler told the Observer editorial board. With pro-gun-control rulings since 2008, “Courts are not showing some massive resistance against Heller. They’re taking seriously Heller’s call to balance gun rights with public safety.”
