Professor Khaled Abou El Fadl Named Among Most Influential Muslims Worldwide in The Muslim 500

March 3, 2016 – Khaled Abou El Fadl, Omar and Azmeralda Alfi Distinguished Professor in Islamic Law, has been named to the 2016 list of The Muslim 500:  The World’s 500 Most Influential Muslims, which identifies individuals who have the power to create change that will have a significant impact on the Muslim world.  The publication selects individuals from a field of 13 categories of influence, including scholarly, political, business, arts and culture, media, science and technology, and several others. 

Professor Abou El Fadl, who was recognized for his significant contributions to the study and cultivation of Islamic knowledge and Muslim culture, was among 77 outstanding scholars worldwide who were named to The Muslim 500, and among only six in the United States.  He is one of the world’s leading authorities on Islamic law and a prominent scholar in the field of human rights.
