Ann Carlson Quoted in ClimateWire on Cities’ Suits against Oil Companies

Professor Ann Carlson, faculty co-director of the Emmett Institute on Climate Change and the Environment, was quoted in ClimateWire on court cases involving the cities of San Francisco and Oakland, which are suing big oil companies for climate change impacts.  A U.S. District Court judge ruled against the cities in their motion to move the cases back to state court, where they originated. "It tells them they can't pursue the claims they were trying to pursue under state law — but that those same claims may be open to them under federal law," she said in an email. "It's a really surprising decision," said Carlson.
