The Associated Press interviewed Professor Adam Winkler about a recent move by four major retailers to place restrictions on their gun sales, in response to public pressure for tighter gun control. These retailers, Walmart, Kroger, L.L. Bean and Dick’s Sporting Goods, may stand a chance in influencing politicians on gun policy, but the National Rifle Association is unlikely buckle under the same pressure, Winkler said.
“The gun debate may change to the extent that this is being driven by companies’ sense of what consumers want. That might affect elected officials on Election Day,” he explained.
