Steven Bank Speaks With Columbus Dispatch on the Move to Block Crew Relocation

Professor Steven Bank spoke with the Columbus Dispatch on the move to block the relocation of the soccer club, Columbus Crew. The federal law Commerce Clause gives the federal government authority to regulate interstate trade, and it could be the stumbling block for Ohio’s case. That clause “has been interpreted to mean the states can’t enact laws to burden interstate commerce,” said Bank. “In this particular case, Precourt obviously wants to move across state lines and they’re trying to restrict that and that in theory is problematic.”
