Akiesha Anderson Writes for The Conversation on Limitations of U.S. Census Bureau’s 2020 Census

Akiesha Anderson, law fellow at the UCLA Law Williams Institute, wrote a piece for The Conversation to assess the U.S. Census Bureau’s decision to include same-sex couples living together in the 2020 census. Although it’s a step in the right direction, Anderson argues it’s not enough due to the census’ failure to ask inclusive questions. “The U.S. Census Bureau’s failure to ask sexual orientation and gender identity questions makes it hard to know much about the intersections between LGBT status and other characteristics,” she said.
