Associated Press Quotes Adam Winker on Waffle House Shooter’s Guns Being Seized Then Returned

The Associated Press and other news outlets quoted Professor Adam Winkler in a discussion about the recent Waffle House shooting in Tennessee. The shooter, Travis Reinking, had shown multiple signs of being mentally unstable, causing the state of Illinois to revoke his firearms license and give his guns to his father. However, when Reinking moved out of state, his father returned them.

“Family dynamics are unusual. And here’s a situation where the family knew of his danger and still gave him a gun,” Winkler said.
