Ingrid Eagly Speaks with Sacramento Bee on Jerry Brown’s Pardoning of Five Immigrants

Professor Ingrid Eagly spoke with the Sacramento Bee on Governor Jerry Brown’s pre-Easter pardoning of five immigrants, all of whom were convicted of non-violent crimes in the past and were facing deportation. Eagly, who represented two of the immigrants, explained the Trump administration’s aggressive immigration efforts, with which California has been reluctant to comply.

“Under the current administration, there’s much more of a focus on deportation. There’s also less discretion being exercised by immigration agents on the ground and by immigration prosecutors,” said Eagly.
