Ann Carlson Talks to National Media about Trump’s War on Environmental Protections

Professor Ann Carlson, co-director of the Emmett Institute on Climate Change and the Environment, spoke to national media outlets in response to assaults by the Trump administration towards reducing California's tough environmental protections.

Carlson was featured on National Public Radio's All Things Considered and in Bloomberg News about California's showdown with the Trump administration over its announcement that it would roll back fuel-economy and emissions standards for cars and trucks and revoke California's authority to set its own environmental protection rules, which are more stringent than those of the federal government.

"There's a great irony in Trump releasing this plan just as California is burning," said Carlson. "We're already seeing catastrophic forest fires as a result of climate change, and the administration's answer is that everyone should drive a Hummer."

The Atlantic and The Los Angeles Times also interviewed Carlson about the rollback of environmental protections by Trump and the Environmental Protection Agency.
