[EL] Faithless Presidential Elector

The Uniform Law Commission has approved a draft Act for adoption by the states to address the faithless elector problem.  While instances of faithless voting by electors have been rare, the potential for harm is great.  Bob Bennett, author of Taming the Electoral College (Stanford University Press 2006), served as the reporter for the committee that drafted the Act.  It has been adopted in Montana and is under consideration in North Carolina and possibly other states.

Attached is a copy of the Act with a prefatory note that provides an overview of the faithless elector problem. The Act is drafted to focus on the very narrow issue of the faithless elector and is neutral on the National Popular Vote initiative.
