At the risk of adding to the email tide, this has been an informative and elevated discussion of the principles of fair and free elections, the initiative process, etc.  Sometimes when real legal and political issues are at stake, the quality of the list debate can erode.  

And just to pitch our collective professional journal, Dan and I as co-editors of Election Law Journal are always interested in providing an outlet for point / counterpoint debates on important issues of legal and political concern in election law.
