[EL] presidential primary dates are later in 2012 than any year since 1984

In 2012, the median date at which half the state presidential primaries will have been held is April 13.  In other words, half the states hold presidential primaries later than April 13, and the other half hold theirs before April 13.

That is substantially different than in 2008, when the median date was February 12.  But because there is so much publicity about the antics of the super-early states (the ones with primaries in January), I don't think even political junkies realize that the primary schedule in 2012 is far later than in the past.

The last time the median date was as late as 2012's was 1984.
