Into initiatives? Referenda, maybe? Not so much?

California has had initiative, referendum and recall for 100 years now
(as of Oct. 11).

Come to an Oct. 5 evening Zócalo event in Downtown L.A., co-sponsored by
the LWV of Los Angeles and the California Supreme Court Historical
Society, and let's figure something out:

"Direct Democracy: The Cause of California’s Problems or the Solution?

Speakers include: Former Associate Justice of the California Supreme
Court *Carlos Moreno*; Small Business Action Committee’s President *Joel
Fox*; and /The Sacramento Bee/'s former editorial page editor *Peter
Schrag.*Moderator: *Trudy Schafer*, Senior Director for Program, League
of Women Voters of California.

- David A. Holtzman, President, LWV of L.A.
