[EL] EAC

Well, I take issue with the characterization that the EAC has been a flop.
They've done amazing things for local election officials, despite a rocky
start. And the way they've handled the certification of voting systems --
in terms of increasing rigor and transparency -- is night and day
comparatively from when NASED did it.
I don't think they've been given a fair shake and I do think some bad
decisions at the beginning have lingered in terms of their reputation. But
the campaign to eradicate them and the failure to confirm commissioners (in
order to hire a new Exec. Dir.) is totally ridiculous. I think the Brennan
Center's Larry Norden summed my own sentiment well when quoted this HuffPo
article [1] when he said, "It is kind of disgraceful that we're headed into
a major election and the only federal agency that's devoted to election
administration has zero commissioners".
Anyway, I don't have the time for a while to write more substantially on
this, but if people are interested, I can get to it later this month
(changing jobs, moving, etc. this month)
best, Joe
