The APSA panel of the Law and Political Process Study Group will occur at 10:15 on Friday, August 31. The traditional dinner for panelists and friends of the LPPSG will take place that night. Below my signature is a copy of the e-mail I sent in June with more information about the dinner.

If you would like the join the dinner, please notify my by e-mail by Monday at 2:00, California time (5:00 eastern time). If the restaurant gives me more time, you'll be able to sign up after Monday, but I can't guarantee that. Also, it is possible that there will be a maximum, so in case this gets a larger response than usual, I encourage you to respond as soon as you know you'd like to come. You are welcome to bring a guest.

A few of you have already written me saying you'd like to be at the dinner. I have systematically lost and forgotten about those messages. Therefore, if you'd like to attend, please respond to this even if you think I already know about you.

I have just sent an e-mail to one of the well-known traditional restaurants in New Orleans, asking if they'll be able to accommodate our group. Once I identify the restaurant I'll send out another notice with that information, but if possible, it will meet that description.

             Best,

             Daniel H. Lowenstein

As many of you know, the Law and Political Process Study Group sponsors a panel each year at the APSA meetings. This year the convention is in New Orleans and the panel will be on Friday, August 31, at 10:15 a.m. Rick Hasen and Bruce Cain have put together a good panel on redistricting commissions.

To me has fallen the august responsibility to organize the traditional dinner the night of the panel, i.e., this year, Friday night. In New Orleans, even I can probably pick a restaurant with good food. The dinner is open to members of the panel and friends of the Law and Political Process Study Group. To qualify as a friend, you must pass both parts of a test that is strictly enforced: 1) You must not have been convicted of a violent criminal offense against more than one member of the group; and 2) You must be willing to have dinner with us.

You will not need to rsvp until we get much closer to the event, but I’m sending this out now so that if you’d like to join us, you can avoid conflicting commitments. Meanwhile, I wish everyone on this listserv a happy summer.
