[EL] LGBT community efforts (and map) in CA local redistricting

Just FYI: In San Diego the Republican Party wasn't the advocate, but the
creation of a district around the LGBT geographic community was a big topic
(and successfully done) in San Diego's City redistricting in 2011.
Part of what's driving these local redistricting efforts by LGBT communities
is that Paul Mitchell at Redistricting Partners worked with the group
Equality California to build a statewide database that identifies
heavily-gay neighborhoods (since a community needs to be identified
geographically before lines can be drawn in/around it). The Rose Institute
of State and Local Government at Claremont McKenna College assisted their
effort by posting an online interactive map of the Equality/Redistricting
Partners database that's accessible here:
