January 27 saw court action in the nation's 3 most populous states, California, Texas, and New York, on redistricting.  To the extent that any of the cases can be thought of as Democrats v Republicans, Democrats seemed to come out ahead in all 3.

In California the State Supreme Court rejected the Republican-backed referendum concerning State Senate districts.  In New York the U.S. District Court chose Democrats' preferred date for the congressional primary instead of the August date Republicans wanted.  Texas was fuzzier but the events of today in the federal court in San Antonio seemed to indicate Republicans will not get nearly as favorable a map for both legislature and Congress as they had been expecting just a week ago.
