No knock on the sponsors of this site, which might well be useful for some purposes. But this appears to track only administrative fines, which are issued essentially automatically for failure to file reports timely. It does not appear to include any of the cases that the FEC actually investigates and settles, or pursues through litigation. The "compare" function is neat, but not really illuminating. If a committee's fine was bigger, it's usually because their report showed more activity, or was filed later. It's all a matter of formula.

It's a little like having America's Most Wanted maintain a searchable "convictions" web site that only turns up traffic violations.

Citizens United<http://topics.bloomberg.com/citizens-united/> is not. In fact, it was correctly decided, however deplorable the consequences. Boston Globe<http://www.boston.com/news/politics/articles/2012/07/05/democrats_lag_in_super_pac_race_for_million_dollar_contributions/>: “The top ‘super PACs’ supporting Republicans in the fall elections have raised more than three times as much money as super PACs aligned with Democrats, $158 million to $47 million, a Globe analysis shows. The imbalance comes as well-to-do Republicans have been far more generous than their Democratic counterparts, more frequently tossing as much as $1 million or more into the GOP cause.”

Bloomberg<http://www.bloomberg.com/news/2012-07-05/roberts-faces-shot-at-republican-redemption-in-race-cases.html>: “Chief Justice John Roberts<http://topics.bloomberg.com/john-roberts/>, whose deciding vote upheld President Barack Obama<http://topics.bloomberg.com/barack-obama/>’s health-care law, won’t have to wait long for a chance to reassert his conservative credentials. In the nine-month term that starts in October, the U.S. Supreme Court<http://topics.bloomberg.com/supreme-court/> will consider rolling back university affirmative action and may take up same-sex marriage and the Voting Rights Act, the 1965 law that protects minorities at the polling place.”

I offered a similar assessment<http://electionlawblog.org/?p=36309> on the day of the health care decision.
