[EL] Compulsory disclosure and "accountability"

What happened to Patterico is awful, no doubt about it. (And it has
nothing to do with "a tactic that has arisen on the left," but a
deranged individual.) But what is the connection to political
disclosure?? There is none. Was Patterico targetted for his political
contributions? I don't think so. You say that someone who might want to
do that could get a target's home address from contribution records. But
is that what happened in this case? Anyway, lots of people use a
business address for their contributions, and there are plenty of other
ways for a person determined to find a home address to get it.
