Quinnipiac poll
<http://http://www.quinnipiac.edu/institutes-and-centers/polling-institute/florida/release-detail?ReleaseID=1765>:

36. As you may know, there has been an effort by Governor Scott to
remove people from the state's voter rolls who are suspected of not
being U.S. citizens. Some people say this effort is needed to prevent
voter fraud. Others say this effort is intended to suppress turnout by
low-income people and minorities. Do you support or oppose Governor
Scott's effort to remove potential non-citizens from the registered
voter rolls?

"Senate: No taxpayer cash for conventions"

Politico <http://www.politico.com/news/stories/0612/77701.html>: "A
bipartisan push to eliminate millions of federal dollars earmarked to
each party's conventions was overwhelmingly approved by the Senate on
Thursday, handing a win to critics who say taxpayer money shouldn't be
spent on orchestrated presidential nominating coronations at a time of
severe budget constraints."

5th Edition of Election Law Casebook on the Way to Printer
    <http://electionlawblog.org/?p=36015>

Posted on June 21, 2012 12:10 pm <http://electionlawblog.org/?p=36015>
by Rick Hasen <http://electionlawblog.org/?author=3>

I am delighted to have just signed off on the 5th edition of Lowenstein,
Hasen, and Tokaji, Election Law--Cases and Materials
<http://www.cap-press.com/books/isbn/9781611631784/Election+Law> as well
as a 180-page revamped Teacher's Manual. (The manual includes model
syllabi for a general election law course, as well as specialized
courses in campaign finance, election administration, and voting rights.)

I have posted the final version of the Table of Contents
<http://electionlawblog.org/wp-content/uploads/lowenstein-5e-tableofcontents.pdf>,
as well as the final version of theTable of Cases, Table of Authorities,
and Index
<http://electionlawblog.org/wp-content/uploads/lowenstein-5e-index-and-tables.pdf>.
These latter tables run 50 pages, but the book's content itself
(mercifully) is now back under 1,000 pages.

The book should ship within 4-5 weeks, well in time for fall classes. It
can be preordered now at the link above.

Here's a brief description of what's new for the 5th edition: "The new
streamlined and student-friendly Fifth Edition of /Election Law: Cases
and Materials/ fully covers developments in election law in the 2012
election season including; extensive coverage of /Citizens United/,
super PACs, and other campaign finance developments; emerging issues in
voting rights and redistricting, including coverage of the Texas
redistricting and voter identification cases; and new coverage of issues
in judicial elections. It will continue to include perspectives from law
and political science, and is appropriate in both law and political
science courses. The extensive campaign finance coverage makes the book
appropriate for a campaign finance seminar as well. For the first time,
an electronic version of the casebook will be available as well."

    Quote of the Day <http://electionlawblog.org/?p=36009>

"I've only mispredicted one big Supreme Court case in the last 20
years,...That was /Bush v. Gore/. And I was able to internalize that by
saying they only had a few minutes to think about it and they leapt to
the wrong conclusion. If they decide this by 5-4, then yes, it's
disheartening to me, because my life was a fraud. Here I was, in my
silly little office, thinking law mattered, and it really didn't. What
mattered was politics, money, party, and party loyalty."
