Prop 35 on next month's California ballots increasing penalties for human
trafficking and extends its definition, and then requires the convicts to
register as sex offenders.

The logic and relevance of the "no" argument in the ballot pamphlet (p47)
is a little hard to follow, and its entire concluding paragraph is about
decriminalization of prostitution. The two-sentence summary (page 7)
 states:
"...My son, who served our country in the military and now attends college,
could be labeled a human trafficker and have to register as a sex offender
if I support him with money I earn providing erotic service. Maxine Doogan.
Please vote no. " Her name appears again immediately following with her
phone number.

Having read the proposed law (also provided) I am not so sure Maxine is
correct. Of course, the SoS does not edit and cannot change these
arguments in any way without court order.)

But Maxine, the erotic service provider, does get her name and phone number
printed and delivered to the homes of 18 million Californians. That's got
to be good for business!
