Politico <http://www.politico.com/news/stories/1012/82432.html?hp=r2>:
"The /Citizens United/ <http://www.politico.com/tag/citizens-united>
decision gave corporations and unions new powers to spend money for
political purposes, and organized labor is taking advantage of late. The
United Auto Workers funneled

more than $5.44 million this summer into its super PAC, the UAW
Education Fund, a super PAC, new federal records show. In turn, UAW
Education Fund donated $2 million to Democratic-backing super PACs,
including $1 million to the pro-Barack Obama Priorities USA

"Romney Fundraising Plan Comes with Risks"
<http://electionlawblog.org/?p=41780>
Posted on October 15, 2012 9:42 pm <http://electionlawblog.org/?p=41780>

Politico <http://www.politico.com/news/stories/1012/82439.html?hp=f2>:
"Mitt Romney's most potent fundraising committee is paying to outsource
a big part of its final campaign push to an unusual coalition of party
committees. Romney Victory, the joint fundraising committee that has
raised the lion's share of the cash credited to Romney, revealed Monday
evening <http://query.nictusa.com/cgi-bin/dcdev/forms/C00518282/818072/>
that it had transferred $44 million
<http://query.nictusa.com/cgi-bin/dcdev/forms/C00518282/818072/sb/22> to
the GOP's national congressional committees and the state parties in
Idaho, Massachusetts, Oklahoma and Vermont. So, while the Romney
campaign trumpets big fundraising numbers --- committees supporting
Romney raised a total of $170 million in September
<http://www.politico.com/news/stories/1012/82425.html>--- not all of the
cash is under the GOP nominee's control, and that some of it could be
used for Republican candidates or operations down-ticket."

"Senator Scott Brown has a new piece of evidence to bolster his argument
that he is more than willing to cross party lines in the Senate. Brown,
a Republican who is locked in a tough reelection battle with Democrat
Elizabeth Warren, is pointing to an analysis that found that, when the
parties have split in the Senate, he has voted with Democrats 53 percent
of the time since January 2011."
Hard to imagine another Republican Senate candidate touting such numbers.

"With little fanfare, the League of Conservation Voters
<http://www.washingtonpost.com/national/health-science/environmentalists-target-5-republicans-who-question-humans-impact-on-climate/2012/07/23/gJQAHqJD5W_story.html>
has emerged as one of the most important outside groups in several key
Senate races this year. The fact that LCV is spending heavily in several
pivotal contests --- including in Virginia, Massachusetts, Montana and
Connecticut --- runs counter to the conventional wisdom that
environmental issues rank low on voters' priority lists. But the group
has spent nearly $8 million and influenced races such as the battle for
New Mexico's open Senate seat, where Democratic Rep. Martin Heinrich is
leading former GOP Rep. Heather Wilson."
