Michael McDonald
<http://www.huffingtonpost.com/michael-p-mcdonald/early-voting-results_b_2027200.html>:
"Everyone wants to know who is winning. In my commentary below I explain
why I conclude Obama has narrow leads in Iowa and Nevada, Romney has a
narrow lead in North Carolina, and in the remainder the early vote is
not providing a clear direction yet. There is still ample time for
conditions to change, but it will be increasingly difficult to do so as
more votes pour in."

Supreme Court Assures It Won't Inject Itself Further into Election
    through Voting Rights Case <http://electionlawblog.org/?p=42655>

At least one Justice
<http://www.scotusblog.com/2012/10/court-grants-four-cases/> has
requested the record in the Shelby County Voting Rights Act case,
meaning any decision on whether or not to hear the case---raising the
question whether the section 5 preclearance provisions is
constitutional---won't come until after the election.

"Obama Is Even in TV Ad Race Despite PACs"
    <http://electionlawblog.org/?p=42650>

Posted on October 29, 2012 7:39 am <http://electionlawblog.org/?p=42650>
by Rick Hasen <http://electionlawblog.org/?author=3>

Important NYT report
<http://www.nytimes.com/2012/10/29/us/politics/obama-is-even-in-tv-ad-race-despite-pacs.html?hp>:
"A review of data from the last 30 days from Kantar Media/CMAG
<http://kantarmediana.com/cmag>, which tracks political ad placements,
shows that 160,000 commercials supporting the president have run,
compared with 140,000 for Mr. Romney. And the Obama campaign and its
supporters have broadcast more ads during the morning news and
prime-time periods when television viewership is highest. Though the
disparity has started to narrow somewhat over the last week, with
Republicans gaining a decisive advantage in places like Cleveland and
Des Moines, the story in battleground states has been the same for much
of the last month: even at their most effective, the super PACs have
helped Mr. Romney fight only to a draw."
