It is ironic that the ad complains (justifiably) about the problem cases by the straight-ticket device, and the ad is on behalf of a candidate nominated by the Democratic Party.  Some years ago the Republican-majority legislature repealed the straight-ticket device.  But then Michigan Democrats successfully put that law on the ballot as a referendum, and the voters voted to retain the straight-ticket device.
