Dear Election Law Professors,

(Note: this email is relevant only to full-time faculty at AALS-member
schools.)

Attached is a copy of the final petition we plan to submit to AALS for the
creation of a new Section on Election Law. AALS requires hard copy
signatures. You can sign it at the Annual Meeting -- there is an Open
Session on the creation of this section scheduled for Saturday, January 4,
at 8:30. We'll also have it at the Section on Legislation's program (which
is about election law issues this year).

Alternatively, if you will not be at the AALS Annual Meeting, you can print
and sign the petition and mail it back to me. My address is below. If
there are other people at your school who might be willing to sign the
petition, please gather those signatures first and then mail it back to me.
The only requirement is that the professor must teach Election Law or that
the professor's teaching "touches" upon the topic. (Thus, Con Law
professors who teach Bush v. Gore or Citizens United would qualify).

We will also be submitting proposed initial bylaws for the section.

Please let me know if you have any questions. We need as many signatures
as possible to put the best effort forward.

Thanks!

Josh
