Colleagues:

For those of you in Washington DC on December 3 (my birthday), there will be a briefing on the Bright Lines Project at the office of Independent Sector. Public Citizen’s Bright Lines Project and Independent Sector cordially invite you to participate in our upcoming briefing at Independent Sector on Tuesday, December 3rd, 10 – 11:30 am.

As many of you know over the past several years the Bright Lines Project (BLP) has worked to address the ambiguity of the IRS’s ‘facts and circumstances’ approach for determining whether nonprofit organizations qualify for tax exempt status based on cases of political intervention. The Project attempts to offer a clear, bright lines definition of political intervention in order to reduce the discretion of the IRS in evaluating the political activities of nonprofit groups.

What: Bright Lines Project Briefing Update
When: December 3rd, 10 am – 11:30 am
Where: Independent Sector – 1602 L Street, NW, Suite 900, Washington, DC 20036

Who: Public Citizen’s Bright Lines Project and Public Citizen

Please RSVP and direct any questions to BLP Project Coordinator Tom Halloran at thalloran at citizen.org. You can find more information about the BLP at our new website: www.brightlinesproject.org.
