ProPublica:

In a sharply worded ruling
<http://www.propublica.org/documents/item/805334-2013-10-16-lefer-order-doc-no-61>,
a federal judge in Montana said Tuesday that documents found inside
a Colorado meth house pointing to possible election law violations
will not be returned to the couple claiming the papers were stolen
from one of their cars

Instead, the thousands of pages will remain where they are --- with
a federal grand jury in Montana, investigating the dark money group

known as Western Tradition Partnership, or WTP.

Quote of the Day: Posner Edition <http://electionlawblog.org/?p=56026>

Judge Posner seemed surprised that his comments had caused a stir, and
said much had changed since Crawford. "There's always been strong
competition between the parties, but it hadn't reached the peak of
ferocity that it's since achieved," he said in the interview. "One
wasn't alert to this kind of trickery, even though it's age old in the
democratic process."

I helped the City craft its newest campaign law. It looks like the
parties are doing just fine, and the threatened lawsuit over the $20,000
campaign contribution limit to political parties has not materialized.

Milwaukee Journal Sentinel:
<http://www.jsonline.com/news/crime/milwaukee-man-pleads-guilty-to-five-counts-of-voter-fraud-b99119682z1-227686051.html>
A Milwaukee man pleaded guilty Monday to illegally voting five times
last year in West Milwaukee, when in fact he did not have residency
there.
Leonard K. Brown, 56, still faces a charge of voting twice in the
November presidential election and making a false statement to an
election official on election day. Those cases have been rescheduled
for trial in January. His sentencing on the five convictions
resulting from Monday's pleas will be scheduled sometime after that
trial.
Brown was among 10 people charged in March
<http://www.jsonline.com/news/milwaukee/prosecutors-charge-10-with-voter-fraud-4t98ni8-199446341.html>with
a variety of charges related to voter fraud. He is charged with
voting twice in the Nov. 6 election --- in person in Milwaukee on
that date and by absentee ballot in West Milwaukee four days earlier.
